Photography — A Beginners guide to professional cameras and lenses
Beyond the point-and-shoot world are camera systems designed with many lenses and purposes, elevating images to new heights.
If you want to improve your photography, select the best lens and camera for the type of photos you shoot. Pop on a 35mm prime lens for street photography, swap it for a 400mm to grab that bird in flight, or a macro lens for that extreme close-up of a flower petal.
Nikon, Canon, Sony, Fuji — each one has its strengths
Each brand designs cameras that are compatible with their bespoke lens systems. This dilemma requires photographers to understand what brand best suits their style of photography, whether street, weddings, portrait, sport, landscape, etc. You have to know the camera’s capabilities and the available lenses.
It can be expensive. For several thousand dollars, the Nikon D850 is an all-purpose camera when you buy it with the holy trinity of lenses:
- 14–22 mm wide angle (landscape)
- 24–70 mm for street, portrait
- 70–200 mm for sports and wildlife
